I really appreciated the opportunity to come and hear thisguy speak to us and was truly motivated by it. One of the things he said that truly got my attention was that in order to make something better, you must ask yourself, “WHAT HASN’T BEEN DONE YET BEFORE?” I thought that was really cool because I never looked at it like that and it helped me better understand how important your audience is in the branding of ANYTHING. Furthermore, the cereal commercial completely made my day because it truly represented how certain types of branding can be useful and effective in bringing an item back too life. In all, the main lesson I learned through this experience is that pushing boundaries and going overboard to what one would not expect, can sometimes be the smartest thing one could do. So never b afraid to try something new and your never gonna be successful with branding unless you take risks. :]

Leaving the Adamson’s speech I was truly inspired. For a while my friend Alex and I have wanted to start our own tee-shirt lines and Adamson’s guidance was very useful. I completely agreed with him when he stated “theory is simple –> execution is harder,” because an idea is what projects someone into wanting to start a business; getting a handle on good techniques to make that business a success is something totally different. I loved how honest he was and also how engaged he stayed with the audience. He was always keeping eye contact and his voice seem to reach every crevice of the room. Although advertising nor marketing are my major I feel like the speech can help me in GRA 217 and my magazine career because he focused on knowing your audience. This fact is helpful in anything where you need consumers to buy or view your product. Once you have the audience your halfway there to winning.
Overall I’m glad I went and enjoyed it tremendously. Hopefully I can find something I am good at and passionate about just like Adamson.

I thought that Alan was a great speaker and that he make very important points that were simple and easy to understand the significance of. I enjoyed how he did give insights into the business, but made his talk relate back to us in terms of telling our own story and branding ourselves. Along with that point he emphasized that it was important to make sure that everyone knows what your story is because it is just as important to get the message out there as it is in creating it. Additionally I liked how he mentioned that society has gone back to the future in some respects with the increasing importance of word of mouth in society. I’m really glad that we attended the lecture and I learned alot of valuable information!
